About Me

Hello, my name is Hollie and I am The Neurodivergent Educator.

I was born and raised in the North-West of England and am from a working class, neurodivergent family. Nowadays, I find myself with a husband, three children, two dogs, two cats and living in the beautiful county of Shropshire.

I started my teaching career in 2008 and, since then, I have been fortunate enough to have taught in the UK and abroad across Key Stage One, Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three.

In 2021, I was referred by my GP for an ADHD assessment and, in 2023, finally received my diagnosis and began medication.

It soon became very apparent that the classroom is not a neurodivergent-friendly nor psychologically safe space for educators and the current atmosphere in schools is inadvertently ableist. These sad facts resulted in me leaving the classroom in 2024 to work within Educational Psychology and I have been advocating for neurodivergent educators, students and educating neurotypical staff and leaders ever since.
